Full 3D Browser-based Fantasy MMORPG - If you want to be a god, you'll need to kill one with the help of you companion Goddesses in this fully mesmerizing 3D MMORPG world.
Rise of Angels is a browser-based MMORPG that's free to play, features isometric action based combat and a companion collection system that requires players to obtain, upgrade and look after Goddesses who alters your combat skills and stats for the better. The game offers both PvE solo and group content as well as PvP arenas and guild wars for competitive gameplay. The game world is incredibly stunning due to the ability to zoom, rotate and inspect closely the finer details of textures and aesthetics that's almost unheard of for a browser MMORPG. While the content is very predictable and might come across as a carbon copy of most other games, it's aesthetics wins out and makes you pick this title of the next. There is a heavy reliance on the cash shop but it's largely forgettable if you're taking your time playing through the game's lengthy main story.
Rise of Angels is a free to play 3D browser MMORPG that offers plenty of adventure and fun for players. Beginning your adventure in this fantasy world is easy, and after creating an account, you'll have 12 different servers to pick from. You can then select your class and unfortunately, only three options are available which are the Warrior, Mage and Archer. Without too much hassle, you're now in the game and ready to play.
Like most modern browser MMORPGs, players take on the role as an all conquering hero that must save the world from destruction. Rise of Angels is no different, and your quest begins with a series of story-heavy introductions which is a positive. The world is under attack by demons and evil gods and you must fight them back. It's a predictable story-line but story isn't the only or the best thing in Rise of Angels. Players at the level cap can participate in competitive dungeons, PvP arenas and Guild Wars which are arguably more fun that leveling, which is seen as a chore and monotonous.
Gameplay utilizes an isometric format which is common, but don't let that stop you from fully rotating your camera thanks to the 3D build of Rise of Angels which is amazing. Players move by clicking on paths and you can turn off the auto-pathing feature if they wish to, and it's recommended for a traditional RPG feel. In Rise of Angels, the most important aspect of the leveling gameplay is not just about gathering and upgrading your gear and mount, but the emphasis is more on the collection and growth of Goddesses. Goddesses are your in-game companions that offers a secondary hotbar for skills, and each has unique powers that will alter the way you build your squads for combat on landscape or for boss fights in dungeons. You get your first Goddess for free, and must upgrade her from time to time either via free materials given to you while playing or for the in-game cash store, which plays a heavy role in Rise of Angels.
Going back to the combat system, battles feel fluid and fun which is surprising for a browser MMORPG like this. You can cast your skills or spells by pressing the hot-keyed numbers or by clicking them, and the animations are actually good on the eye. Your Goddesses combat abilities are perhaps even more powerful and attractive to witness, so there's an addictive feeling of needing to collect all of them just to see what their abilities are, how they can help you and what they look like when cast.
Zooming in you can actually see the finer details of the character model art, the armor designs and textures of the terrain which is truly impressive.
When Rise of Angels was released, the game kept hyping up its tremendous ground-breaking graphics and 3D world. You wouldn't be faulted for doubting it, but to its credit, the game actually does boast some insane level of aesthetics that most games in this genre can't. For starters, the world is truly 3D and you can zoom in, rotate and even play the game as you would a traditional client-side MMORPG which is impressive. This of course will run smoothly if you have an updated browser with enough virtual memory.
Zooming in you can actually see the finer details of the character model art, the armor designs and textures of the terrain which is truly impressive. The downside is, most times in monster dense areas, things can take a while to load in. So that means sometimes you can be fighting what appears to be nothing in some zones, so turn on auto combat to help you get out of that situation.
Is Rise of Angels a game that's worth playing? If you enjoy dungeon crawlers, featuring companion mechanics and grind-heavy combat, then Rise of Angels will feel very familiar to you. This MMORPG is not afraid of what it is, and while gameplay is so similar to many out there, it does have the upper hand thanks to its graphics and aesthetics that will definitely surprise you. It still does what many browser MMORPGs rely on for revenue, which is shoving the in-game cash store with boosts and grind skips in your face every now and then, but if you don't mind it, then give Rise of Angels a shot.
